Sebagai mahasiswa pendatang, salah satu kegiatan yang paling aku suka ya pergi berwisata. Baik wisata ke tempat-tempat bersejarah di kota tempat aku merantau, atau wisata kulineran. Dengan tingginya jumlah mahasiswa di kota Jogja dan pesatnya perkembangan zaman, nggak sulit untuk menemukan tempat makan baru yang unik dan menyuguhkan rasa tersendiri sampai sulit rasanya buat nggak balik lagi makan di tempat itu. Terlebih lagi karena biaya hidup di kota Jogja nggak semahal di kota-kota besar lainnya, yang bikin wisata kuliner di sini nggak bikin kantong mahasiswaku jebol haha

Bicara tentang wisata kuliner, ada salah satu jajanan yang sangat saya sukai di Malioboro yang menurut saya layak untuk dibicarakan. Saya sudah lama jadi pecinta makanan ini, tapi baru kali ini saya merasa terhipnotis dengan rasanya yang sederhana. Bagi sebagian orang, mungkin lumpia hanyalah lumpia, hanya sebuah makanan yang aslinya berasal dari Tionghoa dan biasa terdiri dari lembaran tipis tepung gandum yang dijadikan sebagai pembungkus isian yang umumnya adalah rebung, telur, sayuran segar, daging, atau makanan laut. Di Indonesia sendiri, lumpia biasa dikenal sebagai jajanan khas kota Semarang. Meski saya sendiri belum pernah ke Semarang langsung untuk mencicipi seperti apa rasanya, tapi ada satu jajanan lumpia di Jogja, tepatnya di Jalan Malioboro yang berhasil mengalahkan lumpia-lumpia yang selama ini sudah saya cicipi. Mungkin sudah bisa ditebak karena lumpia ini terbilang cukup terkenal, yakni Lumpia Samijaya.

Posisinya tepat berada di depan Hotel Mutiara, dan di seberang toko Liman. Meski tempatnya bukan di dalam sebuah toko melainkan hanya bermodalkan gerobak dorong, tetapi setiap harinya Lumpia Samijaya tidak pernah sepi pengunjung. Di waktu-waktu tertentu ketika rush hour, saya pernah masuk waiting list di angka 20! Mengingatnya lagi membuat saya berdecak kagum karena keberadaan Lumpia Samijaya yang berseberangan langsung dengan Starbucks yang notabenenya adalah ‘bukan jajanan sini’, terlihat begitu kontras dengan jumlah pembeli yang datang. Apalagi orang-orang ini (termasuk saya) tidak mungkin membawa pulang satu lumpia saja. Dua sudah paling sedikit, karena rasanya yang sangat teramat membuat ketagihan, orang-orang lebih sering pesan 5 bahkan 10 lumpia. Mungkin supaya tidak harus bolak-balik ke Malioboro lagi jika, maklum Malioboro dan kemacetannya memang bikin pusing terkadang.

Di Lumpia Samijaya, mereka menjual dua jenis lumpia; ayam yang dijual seharga Rp. 4.500, dan spesial seharga Rp. 5000. Beberapa orang mungkin beranggapan, dengan harga sekian, rasanya lumpia ini kok lebih mahal dibandingkan lumpia biasanya. Tapi menurutku, dengan ukuran yang memang lebih besar dan isi lumpia itu sendiri yang sangat padat, harga lumpianya terasa sangat worth it. Keduanya juga bukan jenis lumpia isi rebung seperti lumpia kebanyakan, tetapi berisi daging ayam, sayur-sayuran, dan untuk lumpia spesial, juga berisi telur puyuh utuh. Wah, sudah kebayang ya perpaduan rasanya seperti apa. Kalau belum kebayang, berarti memang kalian harus cobain langsung ke tempatnya.

Ketika berkunjung ke Lumpia Samijaya, saya biasanya pesan dua lumpia, satu ayam dan satu spesial, karena kalau kebanyakan makan telur puyuh, kepala saya langsung pusing. Kalau misal kalian tidak ingin bungkus lumpianya, Lumpia Samijaya juga bisa dimakan on the spot alias makan di tempat. Tinggal bilang sama ibu penjual untuk makan di sana langsung, nanti lumpia akan disajikan di atas piring dengan siraman kuah bawang yang semakin membuat rasa lumpianya teramat nikmat. Tentunya kalau lumpianya dibungkus untuk dibawa pulang, kuah bawangnya nanti akan dibungkus terpisah supaya tidak hilang rasanya saat di perjalanan.

Sampai saat ini, saya masih tidak tahu apa yang membuat rasanya begitu gurih dan nikmat. Sangat amat berbeda dari semua jenis lumpia yang sudah saya coba, bahkan di kota Jogja ini belum ada yang rasanya bisa menandingi rasa Lumpia Samijaya. Entah di bumbunya, entah di kuah bawangnya, entah telur puyuhnya, entah suasanyanya, atau mungkin campuran dari semuanya yang membuat saya untuk terus kembali lagi ke sini.

Mereka yang berkunjung ke Lumpia Samijaya, tidak hanya masyarakat Jogja atau dari kota lain lagi di Indonesia, tetapi sudah dari mancanegara. Saya sering kali melihat beberapa wisatawan asing yang akhirnya mencoba Lumpia Samijaya karena melihat gerobaknya yang selalu dipenuhi dan dikerubungi oleh para pembeli sehingga terlihat meyakinkan dan menggoda untuk dicoba. Sebagai salah satu pelanggan setianya, tentu hal ini membuat hati saya juga senang karena tidak sedikit tempat makan kesukaan saya gulung tikar karena rendahnya minat orang-orang. Saya acungi jempol untuk Lumpia Samijaya karena dapat terus bertahan padahal keberadaannya hanya disebarkan dari mulut ke mulut, tak terkecuali saya sendiri, yang tahu soal Lumpia Samijaya dari salah satu teman saya di kampus saat saya bertanya soal jajanan apa yang enak di Malioboro. Lumpia Samijaya adalah bukti bahwa jajanan nikmat tak selalu harus mahal harganya.

It's been probably way too long I can't even remember anymore when did the last time I post about my latest #cafehopping that used to dominate this blog. It's nothing to be sad about--instead, it feels fun to see how my life changes from one point to another, from one interest to another. It reminds me that life is constantly moving and nothing is ever the same. Though if I may be honest with you guys, it's not that I have stopped doing cafe hopping anymore. I do, I always do. But everytime I do, I forget to bring my camera with me. You know me, I refuse to take pretty pictures aside from using my old trusty DSLR.

So what about this one? I have just found a new lovely home for my sweet tooth. If you happen to live in Jogja, perhaps you have heard about this cafe, located near my campus named Analog Coffee. It looks like a very homey and small cafe and truth be honest a little bit cramped as well. But I love the ambiance of the place. They just had a renovation last month to expand their second floor.

Here comes the best part about Analog Coffee; they serve several snacks and one of them is these sweet treats, the cookies. I just found out yesterday that they didn't make it themselves but they had someone make it and drop it everyday there. I swear to god, these cookies are by far the best cookies I've ever tasted. I can't even begin with how it just melts in your mouth and the chocolate chips filled your taste buds... ah, even just by writing about it makes my mouth watery. It's also very affordable with Rp. 13.000/pcs. They have 2 flavor options for you to choose. I usually go by either one of them, or both lol. I'm sorry, I just can't help it!

I usually pair them with a glass of plain water, or I snatch my boyfriend's coffee. My favorite serving is a Vietnam drip honey lembang coffee, it doesn't taste too acidic and still sweet enough for my cravings. I will keep continuing my journey to find more delightful treats in this city before I finally leave for good. Because they're probably the only things that keep me coming back to Jogja.

I ordered and ate everything myself because I went here alone not with my boyfriend like I always do. I'm usually enough with only the quesadilla because they're a lot and the nachos are meant to be shared (because it's a lot too). I'm totally rooting for the guacamole and the nachos, they're so heavenly delicious I kid you not.

None of the drinks served are in my liking although they do sell alcohol drinks like Redler but I'm not a drinker myself so I always go for straight cold water because good news, it's free! And you can refill as much as you like. It's a good combination as well because then you don't ruin the taste of the foods with the drink.

I'm sorry for the bad quality of the photo, they're super grainy. I recommend you visit them during day time where the sun is still up high if you want perfect color on your photos. The night time is only good if you take indoor photos, or if you bring professional photographer. In this cafe, my boyfriend is not a professional photographer lol so yeah. All in all, I'm still on my last rate. This place is a nice place to hang out or snacking with your clique. Trust me on that.

This was supposed to be posted few months ago around February or April, right after I finished my mid semester exam. But as always, uni life got me stuck in the middle of nowhere and that's that. So one day around that time, me and my friends decided to go visit Hayati, a new cafe at Demangan while waiting for Rama to finish his Friday pray. I've been wanting to visit Hayati since it's located right next to Popoluca's offline store and it has this industrial interior design. People have been posting about it on Instagram and it has became the 'it' place for hanging out because it does have cozy surrounding and plays really cool playlist. Though I don't really fancy their coffee selection because it's too mainstream and too overrated. The taste is pretty much so-so, doesn't leave any remarkable taste on my tongue and I still prefer Blackbone over Hayati. However, if you happen to shop at Popoluca, you can always pay Hayati a visit to take some Instagram-worthy pictures but maaayyybe not for the coffee? Tell me how it tastes for you guys!

Now here comes the rating part! I'm not trying to sugar coat everything nor lying about the coffee here but this is truly coming from the heart okay so I hope anyone who reads this understands that it's okay not to write daisies and ponies and unicorns about a certain place's foods or beverages because why would you even write down something dishonest, right? Though Hayati doesn't leave me speechless with their coffee, they still amazes me with the interior and the playlist. Their outside hang out spot is also nice and looks very pretty, which becomes a bonus if you're planning to do your paper with your friends here. However, I'm down for the coffee because I'm a coffee junkie! So let's split the rating; 8/10 for the interior, but 4/10 for the coffee. Whoops! I hope next time I pay them a visit, they would improve their coffee.
