Despite being in my early twenties, I still love going to the zoo. I mean, who doesn't?? You get to see a lot of animals there, maybe also the exotic ones? My recent visit to Gembira Loka was also my first one ever being there even though I've lived in Jogja for more than two years now. Like I said in many of my previous posts, my kind of date is to discover new places and take as many pictures as I can! This time though, I decided to tag along my other girl friends because they didn't have anything to do. Aren't I such a good friend? ;) And as usual, photos are gonna be loads, most of them are taken by my quick-learner boyfriend, yay!
Since I was kid, I was introduced to living with many pets by my parents. Fishes, hamsters, cats, birds, you name it. It led me to thinking that later when I grow up, I wanted to be a veterinarian. But just thinking about it made me laugh. Anyway, even though now I'm not majoring in vet at all, and there's no chance for me to work as one, my love towards the animal remains the same. I have two cats at home, and they're just normal stray cats that happen to stop by at our house. My family never buys cats. We just pick them from the street and feed them. Now that I'm more aware to all this animal-ish thingy, I spread my knowledge by searching more about animal conservation. My favorite one to look at is definitely Big Cats Rescue. I just discovered them recently but already I've watched all of their videos. Since I'm a law student, I'm thinking if I could probably pursue my old dream of working with the animals. Only this time I want to stand for them :)

Two weeks ago I finally went to Vredeburg Fort Museum with my boyfriend! Even when I've lived for more than two years already, but it was my first time visiting the museum. I asked him numerous time already but we couldn't find the right time to go there because of uni stuffs. Since we were still in the hype of celebrating our first anniversary, boyfriend took me there as a 'small' present for us. Here's the good thing about being a student in Jogja; you will never run out of new dating destination because there's always a new place to discover together. And you don't even have to worry about the travel expense because everything is cheap here (except for the illegal parking man around the area geez). Okay so no more chit chats! Here are some pictures we took that day! Enjoy~

Sorry that the pictures are not as many as usual because I gave the camera to boyfriend and while I was busy running here and there looking at all the diorama or reading the stories, he didn't snap that many pictures inside the buildings (and trust me the buildings are that many, yeah). Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable Saturday well spent at the museum. I can't wait to visit another one.

Last August 31st, me and boyfriend went to Lokal to celebrate our first anniversary by having a simple dinner. Why Lokal, you ask? Pretty much because it's the first place where me and boyfriend finally acknowledge that we were heading somewhere, to be something more than just 'friend'. Looking back to the first time I got into university, I quickly collect several unique stories with some boys here. From unrequited love, to instantly being given false hopes by the others. Honestly for me to be in this step is such an amazing achievement. I'm never really good in maintaining a balance social relationship either with friends or lover. Because I ditch people and push them away because I don't know what I want sometimes. And yet here I am celebrating my mini anniversary with someone who has successfully coped up with my madness and all the tantrums I've thrown. I hope I get to celebrate another anniversaries with him in the future. Can't really imagine myself with another man other than with this lump of devilish fat c:

Anyway, to bring back the "moment" from that day, we decided to sit at the same table and order the same foods (while trying another one on the menu).
I finally tried the tomato soup and boy was it good... It was sooo damn good! It was a bit rainy when we had dinner there so a warm sour tomato soup was the best option for you to feel better! I can't wait to go back here again on a rainy day and I will definitely order this along with their hot chocolate, yum! *drolls*

One year is not a short time. We went through many fights and disagreements. We even almost had it on the edge that I felt like breaking up with him was the best decision ever. But I couldn't just give up. Like, this is not how I get through the obstacles. Nobody said being in a relationship was easy, and it's definitely not for the weak. So if I want to survive until the D-day where I get to marry this man, I should never give up on him. Not even the slightest chance. Afterall, if we ever broke up, I'd be terribly sad because I wouldn't have any eating or travelling companion anymore!

Oh it feels good to be back! And by back I mean back writing reviews of cafes or restaurants that me and boyfriend have experienced before. I'm still struggling whether I have to make a new blog to start my food blog or just use this one instead because I want this new food blog to be a professional one where we really put detailed information and attention to everything, from the ambiance of the place to the taste of the foods. This time, we went to Socius. It's pretty easy for you to get there but don't ask me how because we all know I'm not good with directions. I've been wanting to go here since the first time I saw one of my senior in uni posted a photo in Socius' rooftop. And it was very pretty, even on a broad day light. So I told my boyfriend the other day that I wanted to try their food as well. Just to see if the view matches the taste.
As you can see above, the price is not that expensive. Most of the foods are under 30K and that's pretty cheap looking at the place itself. But I have a hard time figuring out what theme are they trying to apply to the menu because you know... foods from all over the country are mixed here. There's Asian, and then Western foods. I don't really like a cafe or restaurant that mixes its food genres.
I decided to have chicken maryland, chocolate pot de creme, and chocolate ice. Boyfriend had salmon cheese roll, schezuan rice, and melon longan. We also got free dessert that you could pick, the waitress would ask you by then.

I am totally not recommending you guys the chicken maryland because despite the price (costs me 30+ish rupiahs), the chicken tastes very cheap. It's even worse than those frozen nuggets :( The chicken tastes frozen and bland, I don't really get the taste of the brown sauce, and the cheapness oh my, it's so obvious. Really thumbs down for this dish. And it's not that much anyway for a 30K+ worth of dish. I still prefer the one you can have at Parsley.

As for the free dessert, we got ourselves ice cream waffles. The ice cream was good, but the waffles were terrible. So spongy, tough, and bland. I didn't even take a second or third mouth into the waffles. It was just terrible. But boyfriend was right, what do you expect from a free desserts?
Overall? I give out 6.5/10.
